The Bantams fell to a strong Gettysburg team by a score of 17-3. While the Bantams opened the scoring three minutes into the game on a nice free position goal by senior Jenn, the attack would not find the back of the net again until the last minute of the game. While the Bantams earned 7 free position opportunities in the first half, only Jenn was able to finish, with the Gettysburg goalie coming up with a number of strong saves. On the other end, Gettysburg took advantage of their opportunities, finding a number of players open in the 8 meter, scoring 7 of their 9 first half goals on feeds. While the Bantams focused on cutting the cutters in the second half, Gettysburg was still able to score 6 assisted goals, as well as a free position goal and an unassisted tally to make the score 17-1 with a minute left. The Bantams maintained a strong effort despite the score, finishing the game on a high note with Liz scoring off a nice feed from Kristin before Alisen put away a free position. Liz also added 2 ground balls, 3 draw controls, and 1 caused turnover. Annie chipped in with 2 caused turnovers and 1 ground ball, while Sarah came up with 2 draw controls and one caused turnover. First-year Joy came off the bench to lead the Bantams in both caused turnovers and ground balls, with 4 apiece.
While the final score was disappointing for the Bantams, the season was record setting. The Bantams finished with a record 15 wins against only 4 losses, with two of those wins coming in the NCAA tournament. Thank you to seniors Annie, Sarah, Carrie, Jenn, and Kristin for an incredible four years. The Bantams could not have made it this far without your hardwork and dedication to Trinity lacrosse. Finally, thanks again to the parents, especially the senior parents, for your support.

Trinity Advances to Elite Eight with Win over Stevens
The Bantams downed Stevens 17-8 in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Bantams were looking to repeat the strong offensive output of Wednesday’s game, and they came close to matching it, with an impressive 17 goals. It was truly a total team effort, with four different playing contributing hat tricks, Megan, Caite, Kristin, and Alisen. Liz added 2 goals, while Remer, Haley, and Kaitlin chipped in one goal apiece. Remer led the team in assists, with two, while Jenn, Alisen, Liz, and Haley all added one apiece. While the Bantams held a solid 7-3 lead heading into halftime, Trinity exploded with scoring in the second half to add another 10 goals before time expired. Senior Kristin finished the first half with a nice unassisted tally before opening the second half with a free position goal. Alisen had a strong second half, scoring all three of her goals in the second, with her first coming off a free position.
Much of the offensive effort was possible because of the Bantam success on draw controls. The Bantams won a commanding 20 of 26 draw controls, with midfielder Megan and defenders Annie and Emma winning 3 apiece, while Jenn, Caite, Kristin, Liz, and Sarah all chipped in 2 apiece. The Bantams were strong on defense as well, picking up 20 ground balls to Stevens 16. Jenn and Alisen led the Bantams, with 4 ground balls each, while Liz added 3. Steph finished the game with three saves for the Bantams. The Bantams were dominant in the midfield, successfully transitioning the ball from defense to attack on 8 of 9 opportunities, while limiting Steven s to only 8 successful clears on a possible 19 opportunities. It was the team-wide focus and hardwork re-defending that allowed for such success in the midfield and this is something the Bantams will look to replicate in tomorrow’s Elite Eight match-up against host Gettysburg.

Williams Defeats Trinity in NESCAC Semis
The Williams College Ephs rallied from a 5-goal deficit to overcome the Bantams 11-10 in the NESCAC semifinals. The Bantams struck first, on a successful free position shot by Jenn, but the Ephs quickly responded with two goals of their own. Trailing 2-1, Sarah Remes ignited a 4 goal Bantam run by assisting on goals by first-year Megan and junior Caite. First-year Kaitlin continued the run with a well placed shot off a feed from Jenn. Liz Bruno made it 5-2 with a nice drive to goal, before Williams got back on the board. The Bantams and the Ephs traded goals until the end of the half, with senior Kristin capping off the scoring on an unassisted take with 9 minutes left in the half to give the Bantams a 7-4 advantage at half-time.
The Bantams started out strong in the second half, with Alisen scoring her first of the game, followed by Kristin converting for her second goal of the game. However, the Ephs did not give up, despite being down 9-4. Momentum shifted in the Ephs favor, as they scored the next seven straight to take an 11-9 lead with 5 minutes left. The Bantams had chances, but were unable to capitalize on opportunities, scoring on only 2 of 12 free positions, while turning the ball over twelve times. The discipline seen in the first half started to crack under the Ephs’ pressure, as the Bantams picked up a total of seven yellow cards, all in the second half. Additionally, the Bantams were called for 35 fouls throughout the game, 4 of those fouls occurring within the 8 meter to give the Ephs 4 free position shots, and they converted on all four.
Alisen played a great game for the Bantams, scoring one goal, while picking up 2 ground balls, 1 draw control, and two caused turnovers. Her second caused turnover came in the last 5 minutes when her steady pressure her allowed her to intercept the ball during the Ephs’ offensive transition. It was a key play that kept the Bantams in the game, giving us another possession on attack. Unfortunately, we could not capitalize and came up just short. Williams went on to win the NESCAC Championship, beating runner-up Colby by a score of 9-4 on Sunday.

Bantams Cruise Past Bates in NESCAC Playoffs
The Bantams started off the 2010 NESCAC playoffs with a decisive 16-6 win over the Bates Bobcats on Sunday. After a low scoring outing on Friday, the Bantams were looking to rebound with a strong attack in the Quarterfinal game played on the Robin L. Sheppard field in Hartford. Although the teams traded goals early, with Bates scoring first, the Bantams used a three goal run, capped by Caite’s third goal of the game, to take a 5-2 lead. Bates battled back to make it 5-4, but after a Bantam timeout, the attack came out firing, scoring four consecutive goals to head into halftime with a 9-4 lead. The run was sparked by senior leadership, with Remer, Jenn, and Kristin connecting for the first three goals. Remer started the scoring by breaking into the 8 and receiving a feed from Kristin. Jenn followed up with another when Remer found her wide open in front of the net after a nice cut from behind. The seniors continued the run, with Jenn this time finding Kristin open. It was great to see three senior attackers connect for three consecutive assisted goals to take a dominant lead into halftime. Caite once again finished the run, with Bruno finding her for a drive from the top, for the fourth straight assisted goal.
The seniors continued their impressive play in the second half, with Remer and Jenn scoring two apiece. Remer finished the game with 4 goals and 1 assist, while Jenn tallied 3 goals and an assist to push her over the 100 point mark for her career –congratulations Jenn!! Alisen chipped in two, one on a free position, while Hadley added another on a free position. Caite finished with a team leading 5 goals and one assist. It was a great offensive output for the Bantams, using a balanced attack that included 5 assisted goals, as well as two free position tallies.

Alisen was also huge on the draw, adding three draw controls to go with 2 ground balls and 1 caused turnovers. Annie and Liz led the defense with 3 caused turnovers apiece, as well as 3 and 2 ground balls apiece, respectively. Emma contributed a ground ball and a draw control in the effort, while Liza added 2 ground balls and 1 caused turnover. Gina came up with three saves in the win. Trinity Falls to Amherst in Low Scoring Contest
The Amherst Lord Jeffs came out on top in the last game of the regular season, winning 5-4. Amherst got on the board first, scoring on a free position ten minutes into the game, but the Bantams evened the score with a nice finish from Kaitlin, assisted by Remer. Amherst rebounded immediately, with another free position goal less than a minute later. The Bantams and the Lord Jeffs traded goals until the end of the half, with first-year Megan scoring for the Bantams. With the Lord Jeffs up 3-2 at half time, the Bantams came out firing. Senior captain Sarah Remes added to her point total with an individual effort to start the second half. After winning the draw control, Remer used her speed to fast break into Amherst’s defensive end, finishing with a well-placed low shot 18 seconds into the second half to even the score at 3 apiece. The Bantams would take their first lead of the game ten minutes later with Kaitlin’s second tally of the contest, on a nice feed from Jenn. However, Amherst responded with two goals to take a 5-4 lead, the second coming off a free position with six minutes remaining. Although the Bantams had opportunities in the final moments, including two free position opportunities with under three minutes left, the attack was unable to capitalize, with Amherst coming away with the 5-4 win.
The defensive effort from the Bantams was strong, with Amherst held to only 5 goals, but it was not enough. The Bantams were hampered by fouls, taking 22 throughout the game, to go with 4 yellow cards. Annie, Alisen, Liz, and Megan all caused two turnovers, while Annie also picked up 4 ground balls and 2 draw controls to lead the defense. Gina came up with 3 strong saves in the loss. The midfield transition was strong, with the Bantams successfully clearing on 12 of 13 attempts, but the Lord Jeffs prevented fast break transitions, stymieing the Bantam attack.
The Bantams will look to rebound in the NESCAC quarterfinals at home on Sunday, focusing on finishing, especially free positions, which we were 0-8 against the Jeffs.
