The Trinity Bantams sank Bridgewater State in the first round of the NCAA tournament, with seniors Annie, Carrie, Kristin, Jenn, and Remer playing in their last game on the Robin L. Sheppard Field in Hartford, CT. The Bantams found the back of the net 19 times, a season high, while allowing a season low 3 goals against. The senior class led the effort, with Remer scoring 4 goals and assisting on another, while Kristin picked up two goals and Jenn chipped in a goal and an assist. Annie and Carrie were stellar on defense, with Carrie picking up 1 draw control, while Annie added 3 draw controls and 2 ground balls.
The offensive effort employed a number of various strategies, scoring 5 assisted goals and 1 free position goal, as well as a number of fast break tallies to supplement settled play. Alisen played a huge role as a feeder, assisting on 3 goals, while scoring 1 of her own. Rachel had an incredibly impressive return from injury to score t2 beautiful assisted tallies, on feeds from Jenn and Alisen. First-years Megan, Hadley, and Haley all chipped in with a goal apiece, while classmate Mal finished off the scoring with her first goal of the season.
Mal was a significant factor on the defensive end as well, picking up 2 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers. Liz contributed 3 caused turnovers as well and Caite chipped in 2 with her steady re-defending efforts. The Bantams were strong off the draw, controlling 14 of the 21 draws, with Alisen and Annie winning 3 apiece, while Jenn, Megan, and Liz adding 2 apiece.
Steph and Liv split time in goal, with Steph needing to make only 1 save in the effort, while Liv stopped 2 strong shots and added 1 ground ball.
The Bantams will head to Gettsyburg this weekend to take on Stevens in the Sweet Sixteen on Saturday at 2:30PM. Once again, thanks to the parents for the wonderful tailgates!
