Bantams Fall in NCAA Elite Eight

The Bantams fell to a strong Gettysburg team by a score of 17-3. While the Bantams opened the scoring three minutes into the game on a nice free position goal by senior Jenn, the attack would not find the back of the net again until the last minute of the game. While the Bantams earned 7 free position opportunities in the first half, only Jenn was able to finish, with the Gettysburg goalie coming up with a number of strong saves. On the other end, Gettysburg took advantage of their opportunities, finding a number of players open in the 8 meter, scoring 7 of their 9 first half goals on feeds. While the Bantams focused on cutting the cutters in the second half, Gettysburg was still able to score 6 assisted goals, as well as a free position goal and an unassisted tally to make the score 17-1 with a minute left. The Bantams maintained a strong effort despite the score, finishing the game on a high note with Liz scoring off a nice feed from Kristin before Alisen put away a free position. Liz also added 2 ground balls, 3 draw controls, and 1 caused turnover. Annie chipped in with 2 caused turnovers and 1 ground ball, while Sarah came up with 2 draw controls and one caused turnover. First-year Joy came off the bench to lead the Bantams in both caused turnovers and ground balls, with 4 apiece.

While the final score was disappointing for the Bantams, the season was record setting. The Bantams finished with a record 15 wins against only 4 losses, with two of those wins coming in the NCAA tournament. Thank you to seniors Annie, Sarah, Carrie, Jenn, and Kristin for an incredible four years. The Bantams could not have made it this far without your hardwork and dedication to Trinity lacrosse. Finally, thanks again to the parents, especially the senior parents, for your support.
